Jennifer de Groot, MD

An Atlanta native, Dr. de Groot grew up in Sandy Springs and attended Marist School.  She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Spanish at the University of Notre Dame before earning her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon.  Dr. de Groot then completed residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Magee-Womens Hospital where she received numerous teaching, professionalism, and compassionate care awards and was elected to serve as Chief Resident during her final year.  She remained at UPMC for fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, where she honed her expertise in the management of medically and obstetrically complex patients.

Dr. de Groot returned to her hometown to join Georgia Perinatal Consultants in 2024.  While enjoying all aspects of Perinatology, Dr. de Groot has special interests in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, diabetes treatment, and multidisciplinary pregnancy management.  She values clear communication, personal connection, and shared decision-making.    She is also passionate about lactation education and support.  Dr. de Groot is board certified by the American Board of OB/GYN, a Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN, and a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Outside of her career, Dr. de Groot enjoys spending time with her husband and two children as well as traveling, reading, and cooking.  She is committed to providing empathetic and evidence-based care as well as working to improve pregnancy outcomes in Georgia, one patient at a time
